Gallery Night
For the first time in ten years four of the Blagg brothers reunited for Spring Gallery Night 2014.
Daniel, Dennis, Doug and Woodrow Blagg had the feature exhibition at Artspace111, which they called “Sibling Revelry.”
The gallery is open all day for Gallery Night. Artspace111 holds its themed exhibition in the main gallery and in the other two rooms each of the 20 artists are represented.
The night is never short of a good time; Artspace111 features a live band, a taco truck and a wine bar.
Gallery Night is the biggest night for Fort Worth artists. Ever since the Blaggs pioneered the first Spring Gallery Night in the early 1990’s it has taken off.
“Each year the crowds get larger and the party lasts longer,” Daniel said.
Gallery Night isn’t just a big event for the artists. The gallery owners also spend months planning and organizing.
Alerting the artists is the first step in the process. Gossett said she wants to make sure they are displaying the newest and freshest works on this night.
“The artists have spent so much time and effort on their works, so I want to make sure I put in time and effort to display it to the best of my ability,” Gossett said.
Spring Gallery Night 2014 was a success for Artspace111 and the artists, Gossett said.
The gallery sold 12 pieces in total. This number exceeded Gallery Nights in the past, Gossett said.
The crowd was similar to the past, but sales were higher due to the Blaggs feature exhibition, Gossett said.
